Stephanie Ettelson has attracted a wide following of music lovers for more than three decades to her courses, seminars and lectures on symphonic and chamber music. As a long-time faculty member of the Music Center of the North Shore (now the Music Institute of Chicago), she introduced hundreds of adults to “The Art of Listening” to classical music by an original method combining visual graphics with grammatical syntax, in addition to recorded illustrations.
Currently, she offers classes for the Newberry Library, Oasis, North Shore Senior Center and Gorton Community Center. Through the years she has presented programs for the Chamber Music Society of the North Shore, Chicago Symphony, Northbrook Symphony, Lake ForestSymphony and the College of Lake County, to cite a few.
A violinist with the Highland Park Strings and an active chamber musician, Stephanie is a former music critic for Pioneer Press and the News/Voice and has been a contributing features writer on the arts to numerous publications. She brings to her audiences a unique perspective as performer, professional listener and gifted teacher, giving the term “musicappreciation” a new dimension. |
